I have finally seen the car I cannot live without. I care not the condition, completeness or driveability. I present the BMW E3 touring. Having had a warmed over 3.0s as my favorite car ever I have never known the existence of this. Execution of the longroof form on the silver one is 8/10, but I don't care. The rear view is stunning. Ever seen one? Know where one is hiding out here or in Europe? Any information? Let me know.

Oh yes, I like that. Hadn't seen it before. A quick google tells me that they were UK-built conversions, not a factory thing - I thought I couldn't have missed them if they were an actual model.

oh yeah I figured it was a coachbuilt deal. I would have known if it was a E3 factory job. Thx for g searching for me. This want will never die...

Never seen one here in germany.
And frankly, it looks a bit odd. Not my taste, it just can't match the OEM look of early Mercedes Universal Wagons or Converted E28 Tourings.

If it's a German bodywork project, I'd put these guys on the suspect list.

the level of craftsmanship binz put into doing those universals, or even the early VW type 2 pickup was well beyond what was going on here with the E3

Yes, that was my initial reaction. 24 hours ago I know not it exist.
Didn't these 'custom cars' originate from some Euro car tax that people avoid by having a 'utility vehicle'?

Absolutely lovely. Those lines suit an estate car perfectly. Great find!
